McIlroy Falters at Fog-Delayed Scottish Open
Play at the Scottish Open resumed Saturday at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, after a delay of nearly 2 1/2 hours due to heavy fog.
Thick fog blanketed the venue Saturday morning, forcing officials to suspend the third round at 10:45 a.m. while only 17 of the field had started their rounds.
Home favorite Bob MacIntyre thrilled supporters with a superb second-day 66 to sit two shots behind leaders Tom Kim, Jordan Smith, and Rory McIlroy at the halfway stage.
Rory McIlroy and Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick are scheduled to tee off at 3:24 p.m., while Kim and Smith begin their rounds later in the evening as play resumes.
Officials face daylight constraints as the fight for the title resumes, with sunset in North Berwick projected for 9:52 p.m. local time.
