Max Verstappen rivals: Full entry list for GT World Challenge Portimao

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 shared with Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham will start 15th after a challenging qualifying session.

  • Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen made his GT World Challenge Europe debut on Saturday at Portimao, finishing ninth in the three-hour season finale driving the No. 3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing alongside Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham.
  • Returning to GT racing for the first time since the Nurburgring 24 Hours, Verstappen stepped in for regular teammates Dani Juncadella and Joules Gounon, who competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship at Barcelona.
  • The team qualified 15th on the grid after averaging lap times across three segments. Verstappen also received a reprimand and behaviour warning point following a collision with the No. 25 Audi during Friday's opening practice.
  • Following a mid-race drive-through penalty for contact between Chris Lulham and Luca Stolz, the team recovered to claim ninth place. Verstappen drove the final stint with 45 minutes remaining, passing multiple competitors in the closing stages.
  • Verstappen resumes his Formula 1 season next week at COTA for the United States Grand Prix. He plans to contest more non-F1 events in 2027, including the 24-hour race at Spa alongside other endurance competitions.
