Max Plante First Red Wings Prospect to Win Hobey Baker Award
On Friday, April 10, Minnesota Duluth sophomore Max Plante won the 2026 Hobey Baker Award as men's college hockey's top player, becoming the seventh Bulldogs player to earn the honor.
Plante and teammate Hanson were named All-Americans by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Friday, with both players growing up together in Hermantown.
The Detroit Red Wings draft pick finished with 52 points and 25 goals, edging finalists Hughes and Eric Pohlkamp for the award.
In Las Vegas, Middlebury College forward Meg Simon won the 2026 Hockey Humanitarian Award on Friday, beating finalists including Minnesota Duluth junior Grace Sadura.
Michigan State's Trey Augustine earned top goaltender honors at the ceremony, while Plante's father Derek Plante played for Minnesota Duluth and was a 1993 Hobey Baker finalist.
