B.C's Newest Municipality Okanagan Falls' Elects Inaugural Mayor and Council
Taylor won 780 votes as Okanagan Falls elected its first mayor and four councillors after incorporation, with turnout at about 51 per cent.
Current RDOS Director Matt Taylor won the inaugural mayoral race for the District of Okanagan Falls, securing the position in the municipality's first-ever election.
Okanagan Falls residents voted in a 2025 referendum to incorporate as a municipality, the first established since 2016, making this election the final step in the transition process.
According to Civic Info, Taylor received 780 votes, defeating Tyler Johnsen with 312 and Glen Innes with 106; 1,207 ballots were cast, reflecting a 51 per cent turnout of 2,360 eligible electors.
Thanking residents for showing "strong numbers," Taylor stated, "I think it was a decisive result," and he looks forward to benefiting the community with his government experience.
Joining Taylor at the inaugural council table will be Amy Bydal, Allison Symons, Randy Ludwar and Eugene Dettling, with the new council set to finish the incorporation process on Nov. 6.
