Massive section of future warship arrives in Glasgow

A major milestone in the construction of the Royal Navy’s fourth Type 26 frigate, HMS Birmingham, has been reached as a massive section of the warship arrived in Glasgow today. The 850-tonne lower propulsion block, built at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, was transported by barge up the River Clyde before reaching the BAE Systems shipyard at Govan, where it will be consolidated into the growing structure of the ship.
