In mid-May, Shimen County in Changde City, Hunan Province, experienced record-breaking continuous heavy rainfall. Jinhe Village in Nanbei Town was the most severely affected, with the entire village "disappearing." More than 10 people were missing or dead, and over 100 villagers escaped the village on foot for three to four hours and are currently at various resettlement sites in the town.
