Reports indicate widespread theft occurring amidst escalating unrest in Los Angeles
On Sunday night, Los Angeles saw mass looting and violent riots in downtown, prompting President Trump to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops to restore order.
The unrest followed protests triggered by a US crackdown on illegal migrants, and Trump also urged police to arrest anyone wearing face masks in the city.
Authorities declared an unlawful assembly, sent dispersal alerts, used tear gas and rubber bullets, and reported widespread looting, including at 6th Street and Broadway.
Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the federal intervention as "illegal, immoral and unconstitutional," accused Trump of manufacturing violence, and said Trump's border czar threatened to arrest him.
At least 42 arrests were made for offenses including looting and attempted murder, while a British photographer was shot during the chaos and required surgery for a sponge bullet wound.
