- On Friday, Maruti Suzuki India Limited launched the New Brezza Turbo Boosterjet in Mumbai, priced at Rs 7.40 lakh to capture India's fast-growing compact SUV segment.
- The compact SUV segment now accounts for 30% of the passenger vehicle market, with sales growing 24% year-on-year in the first quarter, driven by GST benefits.
- Delivering 81 kW of power at 5500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque, the New Brezza features idle start-stop technology and underbody CNG kits for increased luggage space.
- Senior Executive Officer Partho Banerjee said, "We have given more torque, more power and underbody CNG kit to give more luggage space to attract young buyers." Maruti sells 15,000 units monthly.
- The updated SUV faces competition from the Tata Nexon, Tata Punch, and Hyundai Creta. Maruti Suzuki India Limited expects the model to sustain its legacy as India's favorite compact SUV.
