Amazon Orders New Sitcom 'DINKS' From Co-Creator of 'Friends'
The series marks Amazon’s first multi-cam sitcom and pairs Marta Kauffman with June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer in an improvised format.
- Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit DINKS, an improvised multi-camera sitcom from Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman, marking Prime Video's first entry into the improvised multi-cam format.
- Real-Life married couple June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer star as Charlie and Josh, a couple who "decide to literally build a life together by renovating their nightmare of a dream house," reuniting with Kauffman after Grace and Frankie.
- The production partners Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate Television with Publicis Media Content Innovation , which is fully financing the series. PMCI chief creative officer Eric Levin stated the model "combines strategic capital with development expertise to provide an alternative path to greenlight."
- Actor Jon Gabrus joins the cast as a series regular. Kauffman stated she sought to "reinvent" the multi-cam format, describing the improvised shooting as "like being on a roller coaster in the dark."
- DINKS joins Prime Video's comedy slate alongside Overcompensating and Elle. While the streamer previously produced a pilot from How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, that project did not move forward.
