Marshall softball: Burko finds home with Herd, as both local native and heavy hitter

HUNTINGTON — Marshall sophomore infielder and Ona native Sydni Burko could spend hours after each home softball game signing autographs, taking pictures and chatting with the girls that look up to her at Dot Hicks Field. She did so last week after a home run in an 11-6 win over Georgia Southern. Burko hit a home run in the first inning and brought a crowd filled with youth league teams from all over the area to its feet.
