‘Sad’ Dog Jonah Has Day at Ballpark with Marlins
Jonah received a paw-norary first pitch, treats and game-day attention, while ticket proceeds were donated to Miami Animal Rescue.
On Sunday, July 12, the Miami Marlins hosted Jonah, a viral rescue dog, for a 'Dream Day' at LoanDepot Park, where he threw the ceremonial first pitch with his owner, Peter Silveira.
Jonah's fame began during a June 22 'Bark at the Park' event when a video captured him watching a neighboring dog eat a hot dog while he received none.
Rescued in Aruba by New Life for Paws, Jonah was adopted by Silveira a few months ago after being found in a box at a 'kill cage' with his three brothers.
Ticket proceeds from Sunday's game benefitted Miami Animal Rescue, a foster-based service helping abandoned pets across South Florida, as the Marlins donated a portion to support local rescue dogs.
Upcoming 'Bark at the Park' games on July 27, Aug. 24, and Sept. 7 will give other rescue dogs chances at their own '15 minutes of fame' alongside their owners.
