Maple Leafs say Max Domi out 'indefinitely' after surgery complications
Toronto says the 31-year-old forward had surgery for an undisclosed ailment and will be re-evaluated at training camp after complications.
On Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that forward Max Domi is out indefinitely following complications from offseason surgery to address an injury he played through during the 2025-26 season.
The 31-year-old Domi signed a four-year, $15 million contract extension in July 2024 and will continue working with team medical staff while awaiting re-evaluation ahead of training camp in September.
Battling the undisclosed ailment that necessitated the procedure, Domi recorded 12 goals and 36 points across 80 games this past season, finishing with a team-high 95 penalty minutes.
General manager John Chayka and senior executive adviser Mats Sundin are preparing for next month's NHL Entry Draft, as the team lacks a definitive return timetable for the forward.
To bolster depth following a season missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade, the Maple Leafs possess up to $20 million in salary cap space to pursue free agents.
