A man who pleaded guilty to slaying his wife with an axe – a killing witnessed by the man’s two children – was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison with no chance of parole for 12 years.

For the man who killed his wife in Rotterdam-Lombardijen in July last year, the announcement of a divorce was the fuse to the powder keg. He said this on Wednesday during his trial in Dordrecht. The suspect has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment.
