Fernandes Questions Carrick Tactics After Como Debacle
Fernandes said United were too passive and that giving Como space let the Italian side build confidence.
On Wednesday, Manchester United suffered a 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como, prompting captain Bruno Fernandes to publicly question manager Michael Carrick's tactical approach following the collapse.
Carrick's side has now suffered five defeats in 11 games, struggling after conceding early in consecutive matches, including a dispiriting loss to Atletico Madrid last week.
Como dominated with 62 per cent possession and 307 passes to United's 172, while Nico Paz scored twice as the hosts overwhelmed the visitors during the 4-1 victory.
Fernandes criticized the staff's "decision to not press man to man," arguing the team needed to be "more brave" rather than allowing Como space to control the match.
Carrick faces mounting pressure ahead of fixtures against Bayern Munich, Roma, and Sporting, while Cesc Fabregas is being touted as a potential successor following the team's collapse.
