Man to stand trial over Essex crash which killed 17-year-old Alliyah Bell

Alliyah Bell was walking in Hythe Hill, Colchester, at 2.15am on August 29, 2021. She was hit by a Ford Kuga and taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. But the popular 17-year-old died 11 days later from her injuries. Daniel Chappell, 36, was charged with causing her death by careless driving. He denied the offence at Chelmsford Crown Court today. Judge Tim Godfrey fixed a trial date for September 16 next year.
