Man Shot Dead in Community Centre Car Park
Police said witnesses saw a car flee as a man was shot dead, with investigators linking the case to Sydney gang violence.
On Wednesday, police responded to the Punchbowl Community Centre on Rossmore Avenue in Sydney after a man was shot dead in the carpark at 5.50pm.
Witnesses told police a car sped away from the Punchbowl Community Centre carpark as the shots were fired, leaving the victim unidentified.
This shooting comes two days after the Minns government announced a suite of measures targeting an outbreak of gangland violence on Sydney streets.
These measures were introduced in response to last week's mistaken identity murders of university student Marco Tapia and business owner Joshua Macdonald, 40.
The NSW government's reforms promise tighter targeting of offshore kingpins and local middlemen, alongside tougher penalties for teenagers carrying out gang-related shootings and firebombings.
