MONROE, N.C. – A man shot by a police officer in Monroe over the weekend has died from his injuries. Investigators say 33-year-old Francisco Montes-Hernandez pointed a gun at an officer and refused to drop it. It happened around 10:00 Sunday night after a woman called police to say Montes-Hernandez, who she knew, was attempting to break into her home on Alda Drive. The officer’s name has not been released.
