A man who promoted himself on social media as an investment guru pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal court to defrauding his followers.

A previously suspended investment broker has admitted to defrauding investors of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a social media scam. Kenneth Thom, 42, of Westfield, pleaded guilty to investment adviser fraud in Manhattan federal court on Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of New York said in a statement.
