Two People, Including One Shot by CPD Officer, Seriously Injured in Uptown
Police said a 63-year-old man was killed and three officers were hospitalized after the suspect pointed a gun during a foot chase.
On Monday evening in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, a 63-year-old man was fatally shot during an argument, and police subsequently shot the suspected gunman following a foot pursuit.
According to police, the incident started in the 4800 block of North Clark Street, where the suspect allegedly shot the victim multiple times during an argument before fleeing north on foot.
Officers located the gunman in the 1400 block of West Argyle Street, where he reportedly pointed a weapon at them, prompting police to fire their service weapons and recover a firearm.
The suspect remains in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, while three officers were transported to a hospital for observation and are expected to recover.
COPA is investigating the officer-involved shooting, and the officers involved have been assigned to routine administrative duties for a minimum of 30 days.
