Man jailed after filming teenage boy and taking 500 photos of him
Police found hundreds of hidden images and videos on his phone, and detectives say the investigation may identify more victims.
Paul Davey, 57, from Scarborough was sentenced to 29 weeks in prison on Friday for breaching a court order that prohibited him from contacting anyone under 18. Davey pleaded guilty to harassment without violence and the breach.
Violating a sexual risk order, Davey repeatedly followed the teenage victim over several months, driving alongside him, filming him, and quoting bible verses to him. Despite the victim changing routes, Davey still found him.
Officers discovered around 500 images of the boy on Davey's phone, along with a printed photograph of the victim stuck to a chair in the defendant's bedroom. These items confirmed systematic surveillance.
The victim was frightened and distressed by Davey's actions, which affected his day-to-day life. The court's custodial sentence reflects the gravity of breaching the protection order intended to safeguard children.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jack McCabe of Scarborough CID stated: "No one should have to live in fear because of another person's behaviour." His remarks underscore enforcement of protective orders.
