Man guilty of attempted murder of three children in Dublin
The jury found him guilty of attempting to kill three children and of serious harm charges after hearing evidence from about 16 witnesses, court records showed.
On Wednesday, the jury at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin resumed deliberations in the trial of Riad Bouchaker, 52, who denies attempting to murder three children and assaulting four other people.
Prosecutors allege Bouchaker attempted to murder two girls and one boy at Parnell Square East on November 23, 2023, while also causing serious harm to care worker Leanne Flynn.
Judge Tony Hunt outlined alternative verdicts including 'intentionally or recklessly caused serious harm' if jurors are not satisfied the accused possessed specific intent to kill.
Before being sent home on Tuesday, the jury requested transcripts of four witnesses' evidence and the judge's remarks on legal definitions of attempted murder and assault.
Mr. Justice Hunt urged jurors to remain objective and rational while assessing evidence from 16 witnesses and CCTV footage he described as a useful 'yard stick' for accuracy.
