GATES, NEW YORK, JUL 28 – Two fatal shootings at separate warehouse facilities in Gates this month mark the town's first and second homicides of 2025, with suspects arrested and investigations ongoing.
- J’Mere Ridley-Smith, 25, of Rochester, was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound at the Wegmans distribution center on 1,500 Brooks Avenue, Gates, Gates Police Department said.
- Amid two workplace killings, Gates Police Department says the shootings at Wegmans and Amazon are unrelated.
- After an argument outside the warehouse, the shooter fired multiple shots, then fled before police arrived, according to Gates Police.
- Following the shooting, U.S. Marshals arrested the suspect, Kyshonn Green, 32, of Gates, in Knoxville Sunday night as he awaits extradition to New York.
- Amid the ongoing investigation, Wegmans confirmed supply chain disruptions, with produce shelves running low at Western New York stores supplied by the Gates distribution center.
