Residents of Nieuw-Weerdinge have started a fundraising campaign for a fellow villager who was convicted of a citizen's arrest of an asylum seeker. The man was given a community service order of 80 hours and must pay 400 euros in damages, but many residents find the punishment unfair. The campaign has already raised more than 2,000 euros and should ultimately yield 13,000 euros to cover his legal costs, reports RTV Drenthe.
