'Frightening' Synagogue Ram Attack Not a Hate Crime
Prosecutors dropped the hate-crime element after evidence showed drug use and psychosis, and the court sentenced him to six months with immediate parole.
Matthew de Campo was filmed reversing into the gates of Brisbane's Great Synagogue as a man behind them escaped at the last minute. He was also initially charged with aggravated hate crime, but these were dropped at the request of the prosecution. He was sentenced to six months in prison - and was immediately released on parole after 83 days of his detention were credited towards his sentence
