Man charged with murder after police say 2 killed in drug deal at South Carolina State University
An 18-year-old was charged after a marijuana deal dispute led to a shooting at S.C. State dorm killing two and injuring one, police said.
- At South Carolina State University, a dorm-room shooting on Feb. 12 inside Hugine Suites left two men dead and one wounded, and on Feb. 17 the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged 18-year-old Khamanti Lytrel Kennedy with murder.

- Starting Feb. 17, South Carolina State University increased vehicle searches, restricted non-student visitors to 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and requested $8 million funding to upgrade security.
- It was the second fatal campus shooting in about four months, and after the Oct. 4 homecoming shooting, South Carolina State University added fencing, cameras, and a police substation.
