Man Arrested After Pepper Spray Attack at Heathrow

A 31-year-old man was arrested after a woman was robbed and 21 people were affected by pepper spray in Heathrow Terminal 3 car park, police said.

  • On Sunday, a man was arrested on suspicion of assault after people were allegedly sprayed with a form of pepper spray at the Terminal 3 multi-storey car park, Heathrow Airport, and armed officers were called at around 8.11am.
  • Police said the incident began after an argument escalated between two groups who knew each other, and authorities confirmed it is not being treated as terrorism.
  • London Ambulance Service attended and 21 people, including a three-year-old girl, were treated for injuries not believed to be life-changing, while police are searching for other suspects.
  • National Rail said `Although lines have now reopened, disruption is expected to continue whilst services return to normal, delays of up to 10 minutes and cancellations can be expected until 11.45am` while traffic near Terminal 3 remains affected, and the M4 Spur Road has reopened.
  • The Metropolitan Police said there will be increased police presence at Heathrow throughout the morning to continue enquiries, and asked anyone with information to call 101, quoting CAD 1803 7 DEC.
