Man and teenage boy charged with murder after 12-year-old killed in collision
Police say the pair were remanded in custody as four others were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
Essex Police charged a 15-year-old and William Lunnon, 43, with murder in the death of Bobby Bloomfield; both are due to appear in court on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Bobby Bloomfield died after being struck by a vehicle on Ashwells Road in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, shortly before 5:40pm.
Detectives arrested four additional people on Tuesday, June 9, 2026: two men aged 65 and 54, and two women aged 65 and 45, all from Pilgrims Hatch, remaining in custody on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
Bobby's family stated, "Losing a child is every parent's nightmare," while Shenfield High School expressed deep sadness, noting the schoolboy was "greatly loved by everyone."
Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood of the Serious Crime Directorate called the case "complex" and urged the public to report any information via the police portal.
