SINGAPORE, JUL 14 – The 26-year-old suspect was subdued by bystanders and will face charges with police seeking psychiatric assessment before trial, officials said.
- In the early hours of Monday , the Singapore Police Force was alerted at Kallang Wave Mall and found a woman injured after a man allegedly attacked her with a knife, to be charged on July 15.
- Investigations revealed the attacker and victim do not know each other, and a small fruit knife was used in the attack, CNA understands.
- Members of the public disarmed and detained the man, and the woman was hospitalized in stable condition, SPF said.
- The police indicated that the man is expected to be charged with attempted murder on July 15, and they will seek a court order for psychiatric assessment.
- The next court session is on Aug 5, and Singapore Statutes Online sets possible penalties of life imprisonment or up to 20 years with a fine and caning.
