Man arrested after teenage girl raped in toilet on Thameslink train

GREATER LONDON, ENGLAND, JUL 19 – A 30-year-old suspect was arrested five days after the alleged attack on a 17-year-old girl on a southeast London train, police said.

  • On July 19, 2025, at approximately 6:05am, a teenage female passenger was the victim of a sexual assault on the platform at Woolwich Arsenal railway station.
  • After the assault, she and a 30-year-old man boarded a Thameslink train towards Abbey Wood at about 6:09am, with the rape occurring in a carriage toilet five minutes later.

  • On July 24, authorities detained a 30-year-old man on allegations of rape; he has since been granted bail while investigations continue.
