Man, 26, dies after car hit group of pedestrians in Arnold
Police say the crash left five pedestrians injured and led to attempted murder charges against a 40-year-old man.
Tyler Fairman, 26, died in hospital on Tuesday after a Vauxhall Astra struck a group of pedestrians in Arnold town centre early Saturday. Nottinghamshire Police launched a murder investigation following the footballer's death.
Duane Anthony, 40, of Marton Road, Bulwell, appeared in Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with five counts of attempted murder and driving offences. Anthony was remanded into custody pending trial.
Woodthorpe Park Rangers confirmed three members, including the manager, were struck during an end-of-season night out. Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow requested the public remove online footage to allow Fairman's family to grieve in peace.
Gedling Borough Council leaders and Labour MP Michael Payne paid tribute to Fairman, expressing sympathy for those affected. Police confirmed no wider threat to the Arnold community despite the incident.
Anthony remains in custody and will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on June 8 to face charges related to the collision. Four other men sustained injuries in the incident.
