In Mali, Jnim jihadists attacked on Sunday 14 September a large convoy of tank trucks from Senegal, which were travelling towards Bamako under military escort. A similar attack had already taken place on Saturday. Several dozen of these vehicles were destroyed and soldiers killed. Jnim has imposed a blockade in the Kayes area since 3 September.
