Male worker dies after being buried under mud in Tamana, Kumamoto (Kyodo News)

At around 11:35 a.m. on the 18th, a call was made to 119 reporting that a male worker had been buried under the rubble at a construction site in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Two people were buried, and one of them, Takuo Nakajima (58) from Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture, was rescued, but was confirmed dead at the hospital where he was taken. The cause of death was suffocation.
