Vast majority of Ukrainians reject major peace concessions, poll finds
A Kyiv poll found 75% of Ukrainians reject peace plans favoring Russia without clear security assurances amid declining trust in Washington and NATO.

- Kyiv pushed back on an original U.S.-backed plan seen as favourable to Moscow that demanded ceding the Donbas region and restricting military capabilities, while U.S. officials pressed for a rapid peace as Kyiv and European allies sought binding security guarantees.
- The poll found 72% were prepared to freeze the front line, based on 547 respondents surveyed by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology between late November and mid-December.
- Public backing affects Zelenskiy's trust, which Hrushetskyi said is now 61% after last month's aide dismissal and U.S. pressure, with 60% of Ukrainians ready to keep fighting.
- Amid falling trust in allies, KIIS noted just 21% of Ukrainians trust Washington, down from 41%, and trust in NATO fell to 34% from 43%, while Zelenskiy this month indicated openness to a new vote if the U.S. led on security.
