LSU Athletic Director Resigns, 4 Days After the Firing of Football Coach

- On Thursday night, LSU athletic director Scott Woodward resigned under pressure, four days after Brian Kelly was fired on Sunday and after Governor Jeff Landry said Woodward would not hire Kelly's replacement.
 - Governor Jeff Landry blamed Woodward for costly buyouts, including about $17 million for Ed Orgeron and $77 million for Jimbo Fisher, amid a $53 million liability for Kelly.
 - A Baton Rouge native, Scott Woodward was hired in April 2019 and oversaw national championships, while Verge Ausberry will serve as interim athletic director and LSU has not announced Woodward's separation terms though he is owed more than $5,000,000.
 - The Board of Supervisors plans to select the next president on Tuesday, with Governor Jeff Landry having appointed nine of the 18 board members and able to appoint four more in 2026.
