Maine Teen Sexually Exploited Children on Behalf of Nihilistic Violent Extremist Groups, FBI Says
The FBI says the 17-year-old faces detention and supervision after investigators linked the case to a network tied to more than 500 people nationwide.

- The 764 network is a decentralized online group largely made up of minors that uses "threats, blackmail, and manipulation to coerce or extort victims into producing, sharing, or live-streaming acts of self-harm, animal cruelty, sexually explicit acts, and/or suicide."
- Investigators found the 17-year-old committed multiple acts of juvenile delinquency, including child sexual exploitation and cyberstalking; the FBI is currently investigating more than 500 people nationwide tied to similar violent online networks.
- Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division, stated, "This first-in-the-nation case should make it crystal clear that if you conspire to commit violent, extremist crimes, your age will not shield you from accountability."
- Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg added that the "shocking and disturbing nature of the criminal conduct" required a forceful response to protect the public from predatory nihilistic violent extremism.
