Fugitives caught, Pogačar alongside other favorites in the main

Tadej Pogacar alone took control of the Amstel Gold Race 42 km from the finish by distorting Julian Alaphilippe's company.

Tadej Pogačar is the first favorite of the largest Dutch one-day test, Amstel Gold. He already won the first of the three great Ardennes classics in 2023, and this time he is also facing a similar route from Maastricht to Berg en Terblijt (255.9 km). The race is already in full swing, with just over 50 km to go. In the forefront is a group with all the favorites.

Michael Boogerd returns to the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday, this time on a motorcycle. He will be on course for the NOS to comment on the situation in the Netherlands's only true cycling classic.

The 59th Amstel Gold race from Maastricht to Valkenburg takes place over four laps, covering 256 km, with 34 short climbs for a total of 3,100 metres of elevation gain. The undisputed favorite is Tadej Pogačar, who is challenged by Remco Evenepoel and a host of other cyclists.

In retreat during the campaign of the flandriennes, the French riders are more expected on the classics Ardennes, starting with the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday.
