Brewers' Garrett Mitchell Showcasing What He Can Do when Healthy
Mitchell went 2 for 4 with an RBI single and a triple, then robbed Manny Machado of a tying homer to seal Milwaukee’s 3-1 win.
On Wednesday, the Milwaukee Brewers eliminated the San Diego Padres 3-1 to clinch the National League Division Series, with outfielder Garrett Mitchell delivering a standout two-for-four performance at the plate and in the field.
With Milwaukee leading 3-1 in the eighth inning, Padres third baseman Manny Machado hit a 406-foot fly ball to right-center field that Mitchell snatched over the wall, preventing a game-tying home run.
After battling injuries for four seasons, Mitchell appeared in 145 regular-season games this year, exceeding his combined total from 2022-25 while recording 11 homers, 65 RBIs, and 14 steals.
Brewers designated hitter and captain Christian Yelich praised the performance, saying, "I think people kind of got to see that this year," as the team advanced to the National League Championship Series.
Milwaukee now prepares for a National League Championship Series rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who swept the Brewers last year, with the best-of-seven series beginning Sunday night in Milwaukee.
