M&Ms Maker Mars Invests in Gene-Editing Cacao to Make Plants Heartier

UNITED STATES, AUG 6 – Mars partners with Pairwise to use CRISPR gene editing for cocoa plants that resist disease and heat, aiming to protect the global chocolate supply from climate threats.

McLean, Virginia-based Mars Inc. is investing in gene-editing technology to make cacao plants less vulnerable to disease and changes in climate patterns.
