Luma AI's New Ray3 Video Generator Can 'Think' Before Creating

Today, Adobe Inc. revealed that Luma AI's Ray3 model is available in the Adobe Firefly app, intensifying competition for cinematic-level AI video.
Over the past year, many big tech firms released AI video models, fueling competition; Adobe Inc. and Luma AI aim to make AI-generated cinematic video more realistic and integrate partner models into Firefly for studios and filmmakers.
Technically, Ray3 supports professional HDR formats and 4K rendering for high-end projects, featuring true 10-, 12-, and 16-bit HDR ACES2065-1 EXR format and workflow tools like on-screen notes and doodle-based motion inputs.
To help users get started, Adobe is offering unlimited free Ray3 generations to paid Firefly plan customers and Creative Cloud Pro plan subscribers until October 1, with exclusivity on Firefly and Dream Machine for the next two weeks.
With short‑form video dominating attention, Ray3 arrives as studios weigh AI tools; Hollywood studios and filmmakers may use Ray3 to generate in‑screen video and reduce production costs amid concerns from artists filing class‑action lawsuits and 139 million Instagram Reels viewed every minute.
