Lula, Bolsonaro Strike Calmer Tone in Final Brazil Election Debate
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Senator Flavio Bolsonaro used Brazil’s final presidential debate to argue over living costs, welfare, security, and corruption allegations.
Bolsonaro led the first election round, but polls later showed the runoff race was tied before Sunday’s vote.
Lula accused Bolsonaro of seeking U.S. support for tariffs, while Bolsonaro criticized Lula’s economic record and apologized for referring to Lula as “nine fingers.”
Brazil’s runoff election was scheduled for Sunday, with both candidates continuing their campaigns until the final hours.
