Luigi Mangione gets stuck in an elevator as judge delays his federal trial until January
Luigi Mangione was delayed entering his federal court hearing after getting stuck in an elevator with U.S. Marshals inside the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse in Manhattan.
Mangione arrived more than 30 minutes late wearing a tan prison uniform and entered through the judge's door, attracting attention in the courtroom.
U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett postponed jury selection for Mangione's federal trial to January 5, 2025, with opening statements on January 25, due to scheduling conflicts with his state murder trial.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty to both state and federal charges related to a December 4, 2024 killing.
