LSP detectives investigating officer-involved shooting

Louisiana State Police are investigating a shooting involving Livingston Parish Sheriff deputies on I-55 near Independence Monday morning, following a vehicle chase that began in Albany.
Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard stated the pursuit led officers across the Interstate into Tangipahoa Parish, where the suspect's vehicle crashed into another car, prompting the male suspect to flee on foot.
During the pursuit, a deputy deployed a taser, but the suspect reportedly seized the device and used it against the officer; the deputy then shot the suspect, who remains in critical condition.
Congestion reached around 2 miles after emergency crews closed southbound lanes near mile marker 40, diverting Cars to Louisiana Highway 40 until all lanes reopened by 9:35 a.m.
