Lower Mainland family going on dream vacation after $1 million win
Mehrdad P. thought he had won $100,000 before checking the BCLC Lotto! App and seeing the prize was $1 million.
On Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, Maple Ridge resident Mehrdad P. won $1 million in the Lotto Max draw, enabling his family to plan a trip of a lifetime.
Mehrdad discovered the win while stopping at a gas station for a light bulb, having purchased the ticket at Smart Stop in an Esso station on Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue in Burnaby.
Initially, Mehrdad thought he won $100,000, telling his wife, "I am weird," after she noted his strange behavior, but they later confirmed $1 million using the BCLC Lotto App.
Mehrdad plans to use the windfall to take his family on a "dream holiday" but is taking time to consider other options, saying, "I can't describe it."
Lotto Max is drawn after 7:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesdays and Fridays, with B.C. players having redeemed more than $141 million from the game so far in 2026.
