Louis Vuitton Designs for a Warmer World at Spring/Summer 2027 Show
Ghesquière said hotter temperatures are reshaping fabrics and silhouettes as the collection favored light, fluid pieces and sheer layers.
On Tuesday, designer Nicolas Ghesquiere showcased the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2027 collection at Paris Fashion Week in the Cour Carree, featuring a futuristic racetrack-inspired runway with suspended flying cars.
Ghesquiere designed the 48-look collection to address rising temperatures caused by climate change. "It definitely has a strong influence," he said, explaining how heat is changing his approach to fabric development and clothing design.
Models walked in lightweight, fluid silhouettes constructed from technical fabrics designed to move with the human body. Ghesquiere noted a "notion of design fundamentally shaped by the conditions, capabilities, and movement of the human body," using sheer layers and relaxed proportions.
Actors Zendaya, Emma Stone, and Saoirse Ronan joined French first lady Brigitte Macron in the front row. Their presence highlighted the brand's cultural reach amid recent sales challenges for parent company LVMH.
Travel, central to Louis Vuitton's trunk-making heritage, defines Ghesquiere's hopeful vision for navigating today's turbulent world. By mixing futuristic aesthetics with familiar wardrobe staples, the designer positioned progress as something light and functional rather than dystopian.
