The LA county wildfires could be the costliest in US history, early estimates say
The wildfires in Los Angeles County could become the most expensive in U.S. history, with damage estimates between $135 billion and $150 billion according to a preliminary estimate by AccuWeather.
The fires have killed at least 11 people and destroyed over 12,000 structures since they began, impacting high-value properties in the area.
AccuWeather's chief meteorologist, Jonathan Porter, stated that this disaster is significant and the full extent of the destruction is still being assessed.
Both Moody's and Aon PLC have predicted that the Los Angeles County wildfires will likely be the costliest in U.S. history due to their impact on densely populated areas.
The fires that erupted this week in Los Angeles continue to burn, but are already projected as one of the most costly natural disasters in U.S. history.
