Look: 'Diarra from Detroit' Season 2 gets photo, July premiere date
The new season opens with a two-episode premiere and weekly Wednesday releases as Diarra Brickland’s case turns into a triple homicide investigation.
On Wednesday, Paramount+ announced that the comedy-drama 'Diarra From Detroit,' created by and starring Diarra Kilpatrick, will return for its second season on July 29. The eight-episode season debuts with two episodes, followed by weekly releases through September 9.
Season two finds detective Diarra Brickland attempting an unsuccessful 'hot girl summer' before a furniture recovery mission spirals into a triple homicide investigation and a citywide treasure hunt in Detroit.
Returning stars including Shannon Wallace and Phylicia Rashad join the cast, while guest stars Cliff 'Method Man' Smith, Morris Chestnut, and Glynn Turman bring additional star power to the new season.
Kilpatrick told The Detroit News she modeled the show after procedural classics 'Perry Mason' and 'Columbo.' She described the new season as 'edgier, it's sexier, it's raunchier,' aiming to reveal the humanity of Detroiters.
Following its 2025 run on BET, Nielsen data showed the series ranked as a top new cable show among Black viewers. BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society produced the comedy-drama, which filmed in New Jersey.
