Premature baby boy abandoned on porch of home on Montreal’s South Shore

On Sunday, Longueuil police said an unknown person left a newborn baby boy on a doorstep on Montreal's South Shore at around 11 p.m., ringing the doorbell before fleeing.
Occupants found the infant and called 911, and police and paramedics provided care at the scene before transporting the newborn to hospital.
Medical checks showed the newborn was found swaddled in a blanket with his umbilical cord still attached, SPAL said.
Police say they will carry out analyses to identify the person who allegedly abandoned the baby and will canvass local residents door to door on Monday for footage.
At a Bourgeoys Street home, the people inside immediately called 911 after finding the newborn, The Canadian Press first published the report Oct. 6, 2025.
