LL Cool J returns as solo host for the 2025 MTV VMAs, which feature Lady Gaga leading with 12 nominations, broadcast live for the first time on CBS and MTV.
- Entertainment icon LL Cool J will host the 2025 MTV VMAs, airing live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7, MTV and CBS revealed on August 14, 2025.
- Drawing on decades of VMA involvement, LL Cool J previously co-emceed the 2022 VMAs with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow.
- Among other top nominees, Lady Gaga leads with a dozen nominations, followed by Bruno Mars with 11 and Kendrick Lamar with 10, according to MTV and CBS.
- Voting for Best New Artist remains open until September 5th at 6 PM ET on vote.mtv.com, with ballots staying active into the September 10 show, MTV and CBS revealed.
- Additional performers, presenters and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks, with production led by former MTV head Van Toffler, Gunpowder & Sky, and Den of Thieves.
