Eight men are said to have illegally brought cigarettes from Belarus to Poland. The authorities accuse them of serious tax crimes. It is not the first time that contraband has been flown across the border.
In the Vilkaviškis district, border guards detained two men and found 25,000 packs of Belarusian cigarettes thrown from a train, the State Border Guard Service (SBS) reported on Friday. On Thursday, officers from the Pagėgiai Border Guard Unit in the Vilkaviškis district, together with colleagues from the SBS Special Purpose Board "Kovas", checked information about the throwing of contraband from the Kybartai-Kena freight train.
