Lions come off bye week chasing second straight victory versus Elks
B.C. aims for a second straight win after holding Edmonton to 24 points in a 36-24 victory earlier this month.
On Friday, the Lions resume CFL play against the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium, seeking a second consecutive victory after their bye week.
Roughly two weeks ago, quarterback Nathan Rourke led the Lions to a 36-24 victory over Edmonton on July 4, marking the only time this season an opponent has defeated the Elks.
Edmonton enters the rematch coming off a 40-17 home win over Ottawa last week, with running back Justin Rankin recording 107 yards and two touchdowns rushing plus 43 yards receiving.
Defensively, the Lions previously limited Rankin to just 19 yards on seven carries, while Edmonton's defence has forced 16 total turnovers this season, setting up a critical turnover battle.
Victory for the Lions would build momentum after their bye week; the Elks hold a 4-1 record and seek to protect their home field at Commonwealth Stadium.
